US Election 2024: Live Updates
Trump Appeals E. Jean Carroll Verdict
On February 20, 2023, Donald Trump appealed a federal judge's ruling that he must stand trial for a defamation lawsuit filed by E. Jean Carroll. Carroll, a writer, has accused Trump of raping her in the 1990s. Trump has denied the allegations.
The appeal was filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In the appeal, Trump's lawyers argued that the judge made several errors in her ruling, including failing to dismiss the case on the grounds that Trump is immune from defamation suits while serving as president.
A decision on the appeal is not expected for several months.
Doug Emhoff to Stump for Harris
Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will campaign for Vice President Kamala Harris in several states in the coming weeks, the White House announced on February 21, 2023.
Emhoff will travel to Nevada, Michigan, and Wisconsin to stump for Harris and promote the Biden-Harris administration's agenda. He will also meet with local leaders and supporters.
Harris is expected to face a crowded field of Democratic challengers in the 2024 presidential election. Emhoff's campaigning on her behalf is a sign of her commitment to her political career.
