French Leftist Alliance Nominates Lucie Castets as Prime Minister Candidate
Castets' Nomination Rebuffed by President Macron
New Popular Front Seeks to Break Right-Wing Grip
Lucie Castets, a senior civil servant, has been nominated by France's left-wing New Popular Front alliance as their candidate for Prime Minister in the upcoming legislative elections.
The alliance, which includes the Socialist Party, the Communist Party, and La France Insoumise, aims to break the right-wing grip on French politics.
However, President Emmanuel Macron has swiftly rejected the coalition's choice of Castets, stating that he has no intention of appointing her as Prime Minister.
